On Monday 6 October, the 1st PanHellenic day of sports in schools was organized and it was dedicated to combat racism and celebrate diversity at the 1st Highschool of Komotini. The goal was to psysically and emotionally activate the whole school community. Responsible for the organization of the celebration was Mr. Neoklis Lemonidis, the school gymnast, who invited us to participate and we with great joy accepted.
The activities actualized where:
- Speech in order to inform for the goals of the day. Naration of the story of the australian runner Peter Norman in 1968 in Mexico, who stood with coloured athletes against racism.
- Volleybal game between the students and the teachers
- Movie projection from the Cinematography club of the 1st Highschool of Komotini regarding diversity and titled:
- Aerobic exercise program with music, guided by a group of university students in the class of Proffesor of TEFAA in Komotini Mr. Rokaa Stellas. Volunteering and responsible for music was DJ Fotis Zanzas.
- Presentation of the national wheelchairbasket team of Cyprus and the paralympic movement. The athletes talked with teachers and students and afterwards they all played a game. The team was here staying in our facilities in order to complete their training schedule.
